There’s a moment every founder has, usually late at night, usually after sending her link to someone she really wanted to impress, where she thinks: I need to fix this. I need to actually fix this.If you’re here, you’ve probably had that moment. And if you’ve been looking at web designers, you’ll have noticed that most of them want three months, a lengthy questionnaire, and seventeen revision rounds before anything goes live. So when I say 14 days, I understand the scepticism. Can it actually be good in 14 days?It can. And here’s exactly how.
It Starts Before Day One.
Here’s the part of the process nobody talks about and the part that matters most. The 14 days don’t begin when I open Showit and start designing. They begin when you arrive prepared. Before we start, you’ll submit your copy, your photography, your brand assets, and a clear picture of who your business is for and what you want your website to do for it.I know that sounds like a lot. But think of it this way.You wouldn’t hand a builder the keys to your home and say “figure it out”, you’d show them the plans, tell them what you need, and trust them to bring it to life. This is the same thing. The founders who arrive on Day 1 fully prepared? Their builds are the ones that end up in the portfolio. The ones who are still pulling things together mid-build? We spend the first few days catching up instead of creating and the result always reflects that.Your preparation is your investment in the outcome. Bring everything and the 14 days will feel like magic.
Days One to Three — Before Anything Is Designed
I want to tell you something that might surprise you.
The first three days of your build look nothing like design.
There’s no Showit canvas open. No colour palette being chosen. No fonts being tested.
Instead, there’s thinking. Deep, strategic, unhurried thinking about your business, your clients, and what your website needs to do for both.
I map out your full site structure. I review your copy and tell you honestly where it’s working and where it needs strengthening. I choose your platform – Showit for maximum design freedom, Squarespace for a site you can tend yourself post-launch, based on where your business is growing, not what’s easiest for me.
And I build the design direction, the visual world your entire site will live inside.
This phase is invisible. There’s nothing to show you yet. But it’s the phase that determines whether what comes next converts or just looks good.
Days Four to Ten — The Part You’ve Been Waiting For
Now it gets visible.
I start with your homepage, always. Because the homepage sets the tone, the hierarchy, and the design language that every other page follows. Once that’s right, everything else moves with intention and momentum.
Day by day, page by page, services, about, portfolio, contact – each one built around your strategy, your brand, and the specific founder you are right now.
On Day 7 you get your first full preview.
Not for approval, for direction. Does it feel like you? Does it feel like the business you’ve grown into? Does it make you want to send it to someone immediately?
That moment the first time a founder sees her new website and her breath catches, is my favourite part of this whole process. It’s also the moment most founders realise that what they’ve been putting off for months was actually worth doing.
Days Eleven to Thirteen — Where Good Becomes Extraordinary
The structure is built. The content is in. The pages are taking shape.
Now we make it exceptional.
Typography spacing. Button sizing. Mobile optimisation. every section checked on iPhone, iPad, and desktop until it’s exactly right. Image crops. Load speed. SEO foundations set up on every page so Google finds you from Day 1.
This is the phase most people underestimate and the one that separates a website that looks designed from one that feels considered.
It cannot be rushed. And at Mustard Seed Studio, it never is.
Day Fourteen — The Day Everything Changes
Launch day.
Before we go live, I record a full walkthrough video of your entire site – every page, every section so you know exactly how to update your copy, swap your images, and publish your Field Notes posts without ever needing to call a designer.
Then we do a live launch call together. I connect your domain, activate your SSL, and publish your site with you right there to see it go live.
You don’t get handed a finished file and left to figure out the rest.
You get a website that’s been checked, tested, launched, and explained and a designer who actually cares what happens next.
The Thing Nobody Tells You
14 days changes something beyond the website.
Every founder I’ve worked with comes out the other side of a build feeling differently about her business. Not just because the website looks better — but because the process of articulating who she is, what she does, and who she does it for forces a clarity that was missing before.
The website is the deliverable.
The clarity is the gift.
And it starts with a single conversation.
